This is the first of the lip swatches of the four NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams from yesterday's post. When I first looked at Tokyo, I thought it was that hideous medicinal pink, but it's kind of grown on me. These swatches were all done in a fairly slapdash manner - it was a hot day and I didn't want to make Noodle Arms do any more work than necessary. If I were wearing these, I would definitely apply a lip balm first and use a lipliner.
There is a slight difference in real life between the colour when it is first applied and the colour when it dries. I don't think I was successful in capturing that on film, but I've decided to use the pictures anyway, and you can make up your own mind about that.

You can see that it sinks into the lines and crevices of the lip, so you really need to have your lips in tip top condition.

I've been curious about the NYX Lip Creams, so thanks for this review. It looks like a very pretty colour, but I'm not a fan of it sinking into the lines. Perhaps a coat of gloss on top would minimize this.

I really like the idea of 'matte lip creams.' I think you'd said something about the formula drying out or being drying, though, and that's no good. :( Pretty swatches though.
ReplyDeleteMary, my lips get very dry, and I've tried applying some lip balm after the lip cream dries. It does make it look and feel a bit better. Glosses tend to be drying on my lips, so on me that would no doubt make it worse!
ReplyDeletefemputer, yes, the formula is a bit drying - as above, it helps to use a lip balm.
Woah, there's such a massive difference even after just 20 mins! I already have annoyingly dry lips so this would probably drive me mental really quickly - shame really cos the colour is actually rather lovely. For some reason certain colours make me think of a smell and this shade of pink makes me think of star anise. Which is almost enough to make me order it :)
ReplyDeleteHa, I would love a lip product that smelled of star anise! This doesn't though, smells a bit vanilla-ish. Standard MAC-copy scent.
ReplyDeleteI love this product underneath a nude lip gloss I have. It adds a little extra pink!
ReplyDeleteTheir lipsticks also are very annoying! Looks ugly on my lips and quite drying!
