MAC Syrup vs Rimmel Vintage Pink

A couple of days ago I was looking through Temptalia's updated dupe list, and noticed that Rimmel's Vintage Pink lipstick is listed as a dupe for MAC Syrup. Since I have both, I decided to pull them out and see for myself. 



As you can see, Vintage Pink is darker and more opaque than Syrup, with less shimmer. Noodles agreed to model them both for me on her lips, but insisted on applying them herself, and was a bit slapdash due to us not currently having a proper bathroom (and therefore only teeny mirrors), so forgive the application.









They're definitely similar, but I can see enough of a difference to warrant owning both. What do you reckon?

Rimmel goodies from Priceline.

I have been wanting Rimmel's Airy Fairy lipstick for some time now, and last week Makeup BFF J waltzed into work parading it around the place. How dare she! She doesn't even wear pink! However, she was nice enough to pick me one up when she had a day off this week and now I have my hot little mitts on it, AND I LOVES IT. It's a gorgeous neutral pink, a bit lighter than it shows in the picture (taken at dusk).

 

And not only that, she also gave me a free gift that came with it. Score!

Again, the colour doesn't show up all that well in the picture - that nail polish is gold with sparkly shimmer. Not really my thing, but quite pretty.
