HissyFit Saving Face Tinted Moisturiser SPF30+

Tegan from Tegania's Thoughts reviewed the Hissyfit Tinted Moisturiser the other day, and since I had a sample of it, I thought I'd give it a go and review it as well. I wasn't as enamoured of it as she was, unfortunately.

The colour I have is Sand, which is not quite right for me but not too far off. It just made me look a bit tanned - a look I always find strange on myself. I tried this out when I knew I wasn't going out anywhere, so it didn't really matter.

Firstly, it's REALLY thick. Tegan mentioned that in her review, and man, she wasn't lying. As soon as I applied it I could tell I wasn't going to like it. You know when you can feel something on your face and it's kind of... prickly? It's hard to describe - when you're really super conscious that it's there, and it almost feels like it's moving around? Yeah, maybe that's just me.

I agree with Tegan that the product makes your skin look like "your skin but better". I did quite like the look it gave me, particularly since most tinted moisturisers give me barely any coverage at all and are kind of pointless (I still wear them a lot in summer when it's way too hot for a full face, though). Unfortunately, I just couldn't get past the feel of it. It was so heavy and mask-like on me. I'm not a fan of sunscreens generally - I consider them to be a necessary evil in this country - and I don't like the feel of them on my face, so I think that might have a lot to do with my dislike of it.

I can't really say how long it lasts; after about three hours I couldn't stand the feel of it anymore and I had to wash it off. That took some doing too, which makes me think it probably does last pretty much throughout the day.

In Australia, with our stinking hot weather, this is probably a very useful product. It gives excellent coverage and the SPF is as high as we legally go. If you don't mind the feel of sunscreens on your face, it's worth trying out - though I'd recommend you sample first before coughing up for a full size. If however, you're like me and you don't like feeling "things" on your face, you'll probably hate this.

  1. I was actually looking at this at Myer today tempted to get it, but after reading your review (good timing!), I might see if I can get a sample somewhere before coughing up my cash on it.

  2. ooooh I know what you mean about "feeling" it on your skin. I just never thought about it when I wrote my review!
It's something that I guess that I have gotten used to, which is weird for me (because like you Dee I don't like the feeling of stuff on my skin on my body, but I can only handle it on my face. ie. I don't wear heavy moisturizer on my legs because it drives me crazy) so will definitely agree with you that if you don't like being able to feel something maybe don't try this!
I am so glad that you did try it though, I love hearing your opinions.

  3. Hmmm, dont really see the point in this product :/ Surely if you're looking for something that just gives a light hint of colour and coverage then you want it to feel light and weightless?

The only time I dont mind feeling the weight of a product is when it's an industrial style foundation to cover up my badly behaved skin

Awesome review - I shant be adding this to my "must have" list!

  4. Lilit, definitely try a sample first if you can - I don't know how readily available they are, though. Maybe you can email the company and ask for one?

Tegan, I definitely think this is going to be one of those products that people either really love or really hate!

Joy, it does seem odd, but I find nearly all sunscreens quite heavy and yuk-feeling. So annoying to live in a country where it's a must to wear one!

  5. Yeh I'm in the "don't like feeling stuff on my skin" camp too, I wear sunscreens because I have too but if I can get away with a foundation with built in sunscreen I'll do that. Thanks for ze review! :D

  6. I found all of the colours too dark or too warm on my skintone unfortunately. Great product in theory though.
