And now here's something from the "Things That Are Useless" department.

My friend Jodi received a heated eyelash curler in some football club WAGs showbag or something, and since that sort of thing isn't really her cup of tea, she sent it to me. At first I was a bit afraid of it - the idea of putting something heated near one's eyes is quite nerve-wracking, and I suppose I had the idea that it was going to be something like a heated hair curler (I burnt my scalp with one of those many a time in the late 80s/early 90s).

However, it doesn't get anywhere near that hot - in fact, it doesn't really get hot at all. It's more tepid than anything. I tried it with one eye, using my bog-standard, not very fantastic manual eyelash curler on the other eye, and then studied the difference.

The lashes done with the heated eyelash curler didn't look as though they had been touched. The lashes done with the BSNVFM eyelash curler looked curled. I asked Noodle Arms what she thought, without telling her which was which, and she picked the lashes done with the BSNVFM curler as more curled as well.

Not only that, but it takes the same amount of time and effort. So what's the point, I ask you? What is the point?

I think I'll just keep saving my pennies for the fancypants Shu Uemura eyelash curler instead.
