A general ramble about nothing much.

I am what my mother used to call a Gunner - as in, I'm "gunna" do this and I'm "gunna" do that. I talk big and make grand plans, but I rarely follow through. This is because I am a) impulsive, and b) lazy. For those of you who believe in Astrology, I'm also a Gemini Monkey, so that might have something to do with it. Lately however, I've finally learned how to just shut up and get on with it, and there are two things that I am quietly pleased about.

1. After spectacularly failing three attempts at Project 10 Pan this year, I eventually decided to just work my way through the skincare products cluttering up my drawers. I have enough to see me through the rest of the year, if not through the next as well, but I'm a sucker for the latest miracle cream or gimmicky scrub or whatever. At first I was going to allow myself to replace my regular cleansers, as I am very attached to those, but after I realised I have a bunch of other trial sizes and samples in various brands, I thought I'd work through those first. Since I made that decision (maybe two or three months ago?) I have not bought a single skincare product.

Having said that, I have received some freebies from Beauty Heaven - the Youth Code I trialled a while ago, a package of goodies I received as a loyalty bonus, the LED Skin Repair thingie and accompanying skincare products - also for a trial I am currently doing. So despite not purchasing, my collection has actually grown rather than shrunk. Nonetheless, no money was spent so I am still on track. My empties so far:
  • Skinn by Dimitri James Crease Release Day Cream 57ml
  • Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream x 2 15ml
  • L'Occitane Creme de Douche Shower Cream 250ml
  • L'Oreal Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Day Care 50ml
  • Estee Lauder Day Wear Plus 15ml
  • Terax Crema Travel Size 60ml
  • L'Oreal Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate 30ml
  • Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher 7ml
  • NYX Doll Eye Mascara
2. Lately I've been making an effort to eat better - I used to be pretty good about planning and cooking meals from scratch, but in the past few months I've gotten really lazy. Far too many take away meals and oven wedges and toasted sandwiches for dinner have taken their toll and I feel sluggish and horribly out of shape. So in the past couple of weeks I've been making an effort to buy loads more vegetables and make proper meals each night. Noodles has been cooking up a storm of late as well, and she's been making sure to throw as many vegies as possible into her dinners when it's her turn. I don't exercise - I hate it with a passion. However, I don't drive so I walk EVERYWHERE. At least 3-5 kms a day, often more - so I don't feel guilty about not being out on the ground doing push ups or huffing my way around the local jogging track. Since I've started making more effort with meals again, I've lost 2.5 kgs, and I feel much healthier. My skin and hair is looking better, and my grocery bill has dropped. All in all, a good result, and one I intend to keep up.

So that's me. What have you been up to?

  2. You should be proud Dee, you've done a fantastic job with skincare and health. It is a great achievement!

I'm blaming it on winter for my lack of exercise and unhealthy take-aways. I should weigh myself to get a wake up call and get moving before I need to shed layers and fit into summer clothes.
