Swatches: Wet'n'Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow

One of my friends is going to the US soon, and I'm currently compiling a list of things I want from MAC and Sephora. One of the MAC eyeshadows I was going to get is Expensive Pink, but the Wet'n'Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow in Penny is supposedly a pretty good dupe, so I thought since that is only $2USD at Nonpareil, I'd get that and then rock into a MAC counter some time and do a comparison. Since it was so cheap, I threw in Envy and Kitten as well. I'm also kind of wishing I'd gotten Brulee and Nutty - I've seen some great swatches of those around. Oh well, Nonpareil will probably have some 20% off sales coming up with Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving, so I might just wait and see.

As usual, these are swatched over Benefit Lemon Aid, and modelled by Noodle Arms.

From left: Penny, Kitten and Envy. Penny and Envy are both shimmery and highly pigmented - I really like both of those, and I'm happy with my purchase of Penny even if it doesn't turn out to be a dupe of Expensive Pink. Kitten, on the other hand, is not that great. It's a bit chalky, and not terribly pigmented. I had to pack quite a lot on the brush to get that swatch looking okay (so you can work with it, but it's not as good as the other two).

I wore Envy on Friday over UDPP. It lasted pretty well, though by the end of the day there was a little bit of fading. For the price I think they're pretty good, though obviously the pigment of the colours is a bit hit and miss.

Have you tried any of these? What do you think of them?

  1. They look great... I am definitely putting in an order when they have a 20% off sale for some of those as well as some new NYX jumbo pencils.

How does the quality in the singles compare to the icon palettes?

  3. Su, the purple one is a pretty colour, but a bit chalky and hard to work with. :-(

  4. These look very pretty! I bought the W and W palette in Vanity, and whilst the look is nice, it takes me *ages* to blend the eyeshadows in properly! Did you find the same thing with the singles?

  5. I have a WNW trio palette, and that one is a bit of work to blend. The single colours seem to be much better quality, and I haven't had any problems blending Envy or Penny. I haven't tried it with Kitten, but that one's a bit rubbish so I doubt it would blend all that well.
