I have read many times in various blogs and beauty forums that Wet'n'Wild Penny is an exact dupe for MAC Expensive Pink, so let's see how that holds up.
In real life, they do look more alike, though why is it called Expensive Pink? It's not pink at all, it's sort of a shimmery peach/salmon colour. (Ohhhhh, missed opportunity again - I wonder how this compares with NYX Salmon or Peach...?).
Expensive Pink is on the left, Penny is on the right. Hmmm. They're pretty similar, but Penny is just a liiiiiitle bit darker. Though in real life, they do look almost exactly alike, so as dupes go I'd say it's one of the better ones. And Penny costs about ten times less than Expensive Pink, so it's definitely a worthy candidate for consideration.
What do you guys think?

Such a pretty shade! From the picture above, I can't really tell them apart! Penny would be a steal. NYX pearl powder also has a shade called Penny which maybe similar.
ReplyDeletePenny is really lovely. And I think it cost about $2US from Nonpareil. Score!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, this is pretty close! I think Expensive Pink looks a teensy bit better in the pic thanks to the extra shimmer but I'd certainly be happy to stick with Penny and spend the change on something else! :)
ReplyDeleteSo the W&W shadows are alright quality wise? If yerr then I'm definitely keen to give them a whizz :D
ReplyDeleteMost of them are pretty good. One or two duds - don't buy Kitten (purple single eyeshadow). Craptacular.
ReplyDeleteI have both of these as well and they are def similar enough to be considered true dupes. That's why I love wnw :)
ReplyDeleteThey do look really close in the swatches. I don't get the MAC name though - expensive pink ?
ReplyDeleteLooks peachy / apricot to me
I saw Expensive Pink on another site where they listed a Makeup Geek dupe called Cosmopolitan. And I noticed that this MAC is very peachy, not pink! So I thought about it and it occurred to me that champagne is sorta peachy and it's kinda thought of as an upscale, wealthy person's drink. And where maybe pink might be seen as just a basic color, something more common, maybe champagne peach might be thought of as the more "expensive pink". I dunno. Just an idea. =)
