NYX Nude on Nude Palette

When Noodle Arms was choosing palettes for me to road test for my 'shopping my stash' project the NYX Nude on Nude was a special request of hers, as she is quite taken with the daintiness of it. I decided to try it out on my first day in my new job - not that I particularly need to be neutral and "work friendly", since all my colleagues, including my team leader and manager, are based interstate, but you always like to look a bit spiff on the first day, don't you?

Crease: centre colour. Lid: Bottom row centre colour

These colours are quite highly pigmented, but very fine and powdery - it's kind of messy trying to get enough on the brush, especially given that they are so tiny, and I had to tap off quite a lot in order to avoid getting fall out everywhere. They apply smoothly and are easy to blend. I was in a bit of a hurry (and you can tell - man, it looks like I put this on in the dark, which I practically did - it was 6am), so I just slapped on the shimmery gold colour for the lid, and the shimmery bronze in the crease.

The second picture is from the end of the day - I think this one held up pretty well, not really any creasing, and only a bit of fading. The pigmentation of these shadows is better than most of the NYX Trios, but not as good as the singles - I'd say it's comparable to the 10 Color palettes. However, the fine, powdery quality of them makes them a bit more difficult to work with than either the trios or the 10 Color palettes. I like the colors of this palette quite a lot - it's a very practical set of neutrals and I could see myself using pretty much all of them - but I doubt I'd bother buying any of the others.

  1. Wow it did hold up damn well, I hear this is very similar to the naked palette :)

  2. I did see a side by side comparison of swatches somewhere - they're not exactly the same, but similar kind of colours. Nude On Nude is a good substitute if UNLIKE SOME JAMMY DODGERS one hasn't managed to get one's mitts on a Naked Palette yet.

  3. I love this palette, I have it too. My only beef is the teeny pans. :) I've been wanted Naked ever since it was released and have yet to get it either. XD

  5. Looks so nice! I'm impressed with the pigment and the shimmer.
I haven't been able to get the Naked Palette. I just got NP Nudes palette for cheap (spare change) It is good, don't know of I should get the NYX one or not.....

  6. Femputer, yes the teeny pans are a bit annoying. :-)

Su, if you're after a neutral palette, this one is a decent substitute for the Naked. But I guess it depends on whether you already have similar colours in the NP one.

  7. Cant blieve it held up so well - looks as good by the end of the day as it did when you applied it! You mention the texture and I find softer shadows with fallout potential generally wear off in like 5 minutes flat so I'm well impressed by this :)

Oh and it's soo ickle it just looks kinda cute

  8. Joy, it's pretty impressive, isn't it? The little palette is cute, but a bit of a pain to work with on a practical level. It would be great for travelling or keeping in your bag, though.
