PIXI Beauty Eye Kit in Muse

I bought the PIXI Muse palette on a whim after seeing Lisa Eldridge use it in a tutorial. It was cheap as chips on ACW, so I figured what the heck. Unfortunately the packaging is that weird rubbery kind of plastic (not like NARS, hard to describe) that stains easily and it was IMPOSSIBLE to take a decent picture of it. I seriously need to learn to photograph things the second I get them. You can see a pic of it all nice and tidy here, if you're so inclined.

I'd be willing to accept less-than-perfect quality for $6US, but even for that amount, this palette isn't very good. I didn't even bother with the concealer - it's thin and sheer and really doesn't cover anything. I don't know why concealer is in an eyeshadow palette anyway. The two lightest colours on the left are chalky and packed full of glitter. The rest of them are nice enough, but nothing special, and they don't really last. I haven't had any luck getting "after" pictures the last few days because the weather has been so overcast that my house is just too dark. You'll have to take my word for it - this faded and creased dramatically by the end of the day. In fact, by lunchtime it was making its way out the door.

I don't recommend this. You can get tons of beautiful green shadows that are just as cheap (or cheaper) and much better quality than these.

  1. Damn, it looked so pretty in the picture. Have you tried Pixi lipbooster lip glosses? I've tried a couple and they've been pretty good for the price.

  2. No, I haven't tried any other Pixi products. They seem to be one of those brands that have some really good things and some really rubbish things.

  3. Bummer, I love Lisa's vids (I think she's amazing) but I don't like when gurus recommend crap products.

  4. To be fair, she didn't recommend it as such. She was just creating an eye look and used one of the colours as part of it. I don't remember her saying anything either positive or negative about it. I'm just a sucker for any kind of green eyeshadow.

  5. Ahh I see :)

I was thinking just now that the concealer type things might be eyebases or something like that?

  6. Possibly, but can you imagine what happens to cream products when they are in the same palette as powdery, glittery eyeshadows? Yeah, not good.

  7. aw, I was thinking the pictures looked really good. That's a bit disappointing. But you're right, those greens are really nice, and there are tons of better ones that are similar (and better!)
