Lust Have It... Yeah, Not Sure If I Lust

Like many of you Aussie chicks, I received my first Lust Have It box yesterday, and I have to say that opening it was a little like that one year that I asked Santa for a new bike and he brought me a dressing gown. The number and size of products is fine - for $15 it's well and truly a bargain, but for me personally, the actual products themselves were largely meh. I'm not a big fan of Dermalogica, I hate this freakin' bronzer/fake tan obsession THAT NEVER SEEMS TO BE GOING TO GO AWAY, and Mirenesse is not so much 'luxe' in my eyes as 'that crap they try to pass off as classy on the shopping channel'. And I'm disappointed that they sent a men's fragrance in the first box of a product that - let's be honest here - is mostly bought by chicks. Maybe two or three boxes in, sure, but first one? Get the girls in, people!

On the plus side, I did get a full size of the Burt's Bees cuticle butter, which I've been meaning to buy for ages, and that alone would have cost me about $15 I think, so I came out ahead.

I'll give it another couple of rounds and see if it improves - it's only the cost of a magazine or two so it's not exactly a hardship. But so far - unimpressed.

Did you get one? What did you think of yours?

  1. I didn't get it because the brands weren't for me. I'm not a huge skin care person. I'm glad I did'nt, I would not be overly excited by the box.
I got an invite to Beauty Box, still thinking if I should go for it or not. At least they have a lot of makeup brands.

  2. Hi Su - Jac's doing Beauty Box, I think, so I'm going to check out what she gets.

By the way, have you hit Twitter yet? If not, GET ON THERE!

  4. Oh, it was okay - I didn't really hate it or anything. I think I just bought into all the hype and excitement when in the end all it really is is a box of samples, lol. :-)

  5. I got mine this week too=) I didn't mind it, like you I wanted the cuticle butter so was happy to see that in there, and I've been wanting to try the Dermalogica too. My man appreciated the aftershave, though I agree it would've been nice to have one for me instead! I think I'm going to join Beauty Box too, just for the hell of it=)

  7. It is a shame you don't like the brands. For me, most of those products look fabulous and I am totally regretting not signing up for it. Daily Microfoliant for Dermalogica is one of my all time favorite exfoliators, and I have been dying to try the Bio Effect serum cause I have heard that stuff is like gold. I look forward to seeing what you get next month!

  8. Su and Dee - yeah I have signed up for Beauty Box mostly because Dee had already signed up for Lust Must Have It so we can trade unwanted samples and compare the offerings.

  9. I signed up to the waiting list for a company whose name escapes me ($9.95 per month) - still waiting to hear back! Love the concept.

  11. Like you, was a little underwhelmed, especially for the maiden package, but hoping they may lure better products / makeup brands as they grow... Looking forward to the first beauty box in Sept too, but afraid their list of brands could overstating it- dunno, we'll see. The $9.95 is red meow I think, all still under construction, but have lodged interest.

  13. I was really on the fence about signing up for these and now that I'm seeing the reviews trickle through I'm glad I opted not to sign up. There just isn't much in there that I would honestly use.
