Perfume shopping - wheee!
For the last few weeks I've been spraying myself with Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidée Vanille from the limited edition Collection Extraordinaire every time I went into David Jones. But at $200AUD a bottle, I just couldn't justify buying it, no matter how much I loved it. I just don't have that kind of cash to splash around these days (sad face). However, eventually I decided that when I got my tax return back, that perfume was going to be mine. Tax returns are found money as far as I am concerned, and therefore able to be spent freely. This morning it turned up in my bank account, I was out the door to DJs and on that perfume like a fly on pie.
It's a spicy, oriental vanilla rather than a foodie-sweet one, and it's just unbelievably gorgeous. Anyone who works with me will be finding out what it smells like, because I suspect I will be wearing this every day for weeks.
It comes with a little envelope of 1ml samples of each of the perfumes in the Collection Extraordinaire, which on one hand is fab, because I can try them all, but on the other hand is kind of annoying, because I have already found another one (Bois d'Iris) that I really love. I might just have to treat myself to a decant of that one from The Perfumed Court. I can't be spending another $200 on it, that's for sure.
And on top of that they threw in a bunch of other samples - that's what I love about buying perfume and makeup at David Jones. They always give you little extras. So much to play with. Wooo!
NOTE: Apologies for the rubbish lighting, it's a very dull, overcast day here today.

Yay for you honey. Well deserved and hopefully it will be a soothing scent until something more challenging comes up at work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jacstar. I'll come and visit on Tuesday so you can sniff me!
ReplyDeleteWow, you were quick getting your tax return done!
ReplyDeleteGreat purchases, I tend to do the same thing with my tax return, it's a great excuse to spoil yourself.
I have Monday off as a flex....can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGQ, I always lodge my tax return online on day one to get it over and done with. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow awesome is that Dee, it sounds gorgeous! Great treat for yourself :)
ReplyDeleteYou've done well scoring samples too, especially the 1ml ones. Oh, and Bvlgari Jasmine Noir is to die for!
I love vanilla scents, but I'm wondering if this might not be sweet enough for me. Have you tried Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille - and if so, how does it compare? xo
ReplyDeleteI have Un Bois Vanille so I did a bit of a comparison with the two. I think Un Bois Vanille is a bit more sweet and nutty. It seems "brighter", if that makes sense. Orchidee Vanille is a warmer, deeper and less foodie. More of an oriental.
