My ELF collection - part two (pic heavy)

The blushes and lip products are what I mostly like when it comes to ELF - the majority of their eye products are a bit meh.

Luscious Liquid Lipsticks

Bark, Cherry Tart, Pink Lemonade, Baby Lips.

I love these - for $1US, you can't go wrong. The colours are sheer and don't last a hugely long time, but I find that with any lip gloss. They have a twist up doodad that releases product via the sponge, like Stila Lip Glaze does with the brush. I've reviewed them before - you can read that here if you're interested.

Plumping Lip Glaze

Top: Mauve Berry, Bottom: Ruby Kiss

These don't do much of anything. They certainly don't do any lip plumping, and the colour is very sheer and not really what you think you're getting. The white end - the "plumping" bit - has a strong menthol scent, like those ice breath mints.

Mineral Lipsticks

From left: ELF Mineral Lipstick in Pouty Petal and Nicely Nude.

I reviewed these here, so I won't say anything more about them. They've grown on me a bit since my lukewarm review - I quite like them for work.

Pouty Petal, Nicely Nude.

Blush

Studio Blush in Tickled Pink

This blush is quite pretty and sheer, which I like, and easy to blend. These are about $3US, I think - top drawer ELF!

Natural Radiance Blusher in Shy, Glow and Innocence

These are the $1US ones, and I know a lot of people dislike these because they're not highly pigmented, but that's exactly what I do like about them. I don't like a lot of colour on my cheeks, and a sheer hint of something is perfect for me.

Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder.

Does this look familiar? Possibly because it's a pretty blatant rip off of the NARS Orgasm/Laguna duo. I've never seen that in person, so I can't see whether it really is a dupe (though I've read that it's not), but I quite like this product. I don't really use the bronzer side - I'm not much of a bronzer person, or a contouring person for that matter. Considering I don't have much in the way of cheekbones going on, maybe it's something I should get into. Hmmm.

All Over Color Sticks

From left: Lilac Petal, Pink Lemonade, Spotlight.

Aside from a bit of a play here and there, I've never really used these - I can't quite work them out. They don't look quite right on me as a blush (or concealer/highlighter in the case of Spotlight), and they're kind of annoying to use on the lips because of their size.

Lilac Petal, Pink Lemonade, Spotlight.

Seeing all of these products together has made me realise how many of them I never use. I'm going to spend the next week or so trying these out and see if they're something I want to continue with.

Anyway, that's my ELF - you can find Part One of the collection here. I hope some of you found the swatches useful, and others just liked having a nose around in some of my stuff. :-)

  1. From your swatches your contouring blush and bronzer do look like dupes of the orgasm/laguna duo but can't tell for sure. Even the shape of the studio blush single looks like an obvious rip off of nars, but hey good on them for giving a cheaper dupe alternative.

  5. Lilit, it's definitely a cheeky rip off - the whole ELF Studio line is an unashamed copy of NARS. ;-)

Jen, the glosses are probably my favourite thing from ELF. For $1, I just love them.

prettymom, I'm happy they can be of use to someone. I know when I'm trying to buy something online I often have a devil of a time finding decent swatches, so I like to do my bit when I can! :-)

Jade, never in a million billion years would I cough up the megabucks for the NARS duo - gorgeous though it looks. This one costs about $5, I think, and I like it fine. :-)

  6. Ditto the ELF ripping off NARS thing; they even sent out an email newsletter, quite cheeky as you say, titled "Sorry Sephora!" It compared side by side Sephora dupes and the respective prices. There was a picture of the NARS duo right next to the ELF duo, $26 vs $3. So on and so forth on some six or so products until the total rang up to a difference of about ninety dollars or more. So much cheek in there it's practically a Chipmunk.

  7. On a different note, I've bought quite a few ELF products and the quality is all over the place, so I'm always holding my breath before my parcel arrives. What are you favorites and which ones stunk to high hell? I personally really like the Studio blushes, the tinted moisturizers (SPF 15,) the flat top Studio brush and... maybe the HD powder, haven't used it long enough to make up my mind on it yet. Oh, the cream blush is quite fine too, but I'm waiting to see if it dries out like the cream eyeliners, being in the same type of container and all. I really wish I'd given the color corrector powder compact a miss, it's so chalky on my medium skin tone. I don't want to throw it out, it would be a waste, but can't figure out what I'd do with it either. Dear, I'm rambling aren't I.

  8. Saint Jean, I really like my Studio blush, the liquid lipsticks and the blush duo. Everything else I think I could take or leave.

I haven't seen the cream blushes, but those containers aren't really air tight, so I could see them drying out pretty quickly.

    And don't worry about rambling - I'm a chronic rambler. :-D

  9. They really do "dupe" a lot of higher end products. My fave Nars blush is Angelika, and ELF makes one IDENTICAL to it, called "fuchsia fusion" you can see the swatches on my blog if you'd like:

I think the packaging of the blushes, shadows, and lipsticks are all NARS rip-off's but I have to say, at $3 a pop, the quality is pretty on point.. Oh and I have the Nars duo and YES, the ELF one is a dead on dupe!
